Victorian Renewable Energy Terminal (VRET) – Community Submissions Closing Soon

September 18, 2025

The Department of Transport and Planning (DTP) has released updated draft scoping requirements for the Environment Effects Statement (EES) into the proposed Victorian Renewable Energy Terminal at Hastings. These are now open for public comment until midnight, 24 September 2025.

While the proposal has been scaled down, we remain concerned about several key issues and have now made our submission. You can read it here:  20250918 VRET EES Updated Scoping requirements – UNESCO Biosphere Foundation submission

The EES must be science-led, independent, and transparent. Just as importantly, it must provide meaningful opportunities for community input.

We encourage community members, partners, and stakeholders to make their voices heard by lodging a submission. Submissions close soon – don’t miss this opportunity to have your say.
