Board structure
The board consists of up to 15 directors:
- One director nominated by each of up to six community roundtables.
- One director appointed by each of the five local governments within the biosphere reserve (Bass Coast Shire, Cardinia Shire, City of Casey, City of Frankston and Mornington Peninsula Shire).
- One director nominated by the Victorian Minister for the Environment (drawn from the Department of Sustainability and Environment).
- One director nominated by Parks Victoria.
- One director representing industry or commerce conducted in the biosphere reserve, nominated by the board.
- One independent chairperson, nominated by the board following consultation with the Victorian Minister for the Environment. The current chair is Rob Gell.
The Biosphere Foundation's research committee has permanent observer status on the board and the capacity to bring proposals to the board as necessary.
The board is advised by an advisory panel of eminent experts in fields relevant to the environment and sustainable development.
