Advisory Panel

The Biosphere Foundation is fortunate to have access to the advice of a panel of eminent experts in fields relevant to conservation and sustainable development. These experts are volunteering their time because they understand the urgent need for change and the potential of the UNESCO biosphere model to make it happen:

  • Dr Mick Lumb, former Chair Port Phillip and Westernport Catchment Management Authority, and board member Central Coastal Board and Greening Australia
  • Michael Buxton, Associate Professor Environment and Planning, RMIT University, and former secretary to the Victorian Minister for Planning and Environment
  • Hon. Tom Roper, former Victorian Minister for Planning and Environment
  • John Fien, Professor of Sustainability, RMIT University, and member of the Australian National Commission for UNESCO
  • Ian Wills, Honorary Associate Professor Business and Economics, Monash University
  • Andrew Grant, Executive Director CO2 Group, CEO CO2 Australia, and former Chair Port Phillip and Westernport Catchment Management Authority
  • Dr Peter Woodgate, CEO CRC for Spatial Information Services and chair of the Biosphere Foundation's research committee
  • Jeff Weir, Executive Director Dolphin Research Institute and board member Central Coastal Board
  • Rob Gell, Biosphere Foundation Chair and National President of Greening Australia

The panel is currently considering how the Biosphere Foundation might support a proposal for a future scientific study for Western Port.
